Does this sound like propaganda? Indoctrination? 🤷‍♀️🤔

This article opens with the “Mah Nishtanah” or “The Four Questions” which I recall reading at our family’s Passover Seder - a ritual commemorating Moses leading his followers out of Egypt - as a child. We were not Orthodox (religious) Jews, so the pre-dinner seders tended to be short…much appreciated as I recall the torture of waiting to eat my aunt’s delicious casseroles while reading from the Haggadah, the special Passover prayer book.

While the Four Questions are rather innocent, the story behind the Seder - involving slavery and other atrocities - is anything but.

My family were doctors, engineers, scientists: academic achievement was encouraged; over-thinking things? Not so much.

“We know that throughout history we have been persecuted: Pharaoh, Haman, Hitler, and now Hamas.”

After learning about the Holocaust at Hebrew School, I asked my father why it happened.

”A lot of people don’t like Jews.”

He answered the question, but is that really an answer? Why don’t they like us? How is terrorizing children - “they want to kill you” - without explaining WHY acceptable?

Fast forward to today: I have four children, all young adults. One has maintained contact with friends from a Jewish summer camp she attended as a child.

After pointing out to her that Jews from around the world have been called to Israel…

…I asked if any of her camp friends would be going.

She looked at me like I was crazy: “Mom, are you kidding? There’s a war there.”

Another child started at a new school. Upon learning my child is Jewish, another student “wigged out” (as the kids say) on her: “Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo…girl, girl, girl, girl…we have to TALK. What is going ON with y’all?”

While I’m not sure of this inquisitive classmate’s background - from my understanding - Christians and Muslims also teach their young that “others” seek to destroy them.

One thing we did not learn - in school or Hebrew School - was about certain secret societies and their involvement in American history. Many have shared the 1871 letter from 33rd degree mason Albert Pike to Illuminati Director Giuseppe Mazzini wherein he accurately predicted World Wars 1 and 2, as well as the path being laid before us to World War 3.

Are Jews and non-Jews being played against each other by the same nefarious forces?

Perhaps this April 12 - when Passover is celebrated this year - Jews can informally add a fifth question to the post-Seder discussion: Why do they want to destroy us?
